Categories are useful for organising your posts into topic or subject areas. This is particularly useful if you write about a range of different areas. You can create a series of main categories, as well as creating category hierarchies with subcategories. This tutorial will show you how to add a new category or edit a category which already exists.

  1. Log into your wordpress account.

  2. On the posts panel to the left, click on "Categories".

To create a new category

  1. Fill in the category name, slug and description. Leave the Category Parent as "none" if you want the category to be a main category. If you want the category to be a subcategory, use this dropdown to select the category it falls under. Press "Add Category"

Editing a category

  1. Click the category you want to edit.

  2. Modify the required fields and click "update category"
