I've published my website but I'm not on the search engines?

The search engines cannot know your new site exists unless you tell them about it or unless other sites that Google visits regularly link to your site.

After that your site will usually start to show if you search for its own domain name within a few weeks.

While it’s not a requirement we also recommend registering a Google Webmaster Tools account and following the advice given there.

Getting your new baby shoes site to show on Google's first page for the keyword 'baby shoes' however is another matter! The more websites competing for any one keyword the harder it will be to make it to the first page. Getting listed in the search engines usually requires some search engine optimisation (SEO).
